Water flowing in Sheepscot River

Head Tide Dam

Head Tide Dam Fish Passage Assessment, August 2008, Stantec Consulting (4MB pdf).  This report shows that high water velocity at the dam, during the spring when fish migrate upstream, impairs passage for some fish species such as American shad.  The report also considers whether increasing the size of the existing breaches in the dam will improve fish passage.

Head Tide Dam, 2008 (1MB jpg) and Head Tide Dam, photo rendering of dam with the middle section of the dam removed (1MB jpg), Stantec Consulting, December 2008.  These photos show the dam as it looks now and as it could look with the middle section of the dam removed.  The removal of part of the dam is one option to improve fish passage.
